Rhomobile, one of six on-stage presenters, won the People’s Choice Award at our annual Launch Pad event yesterday after pitching to a panel of judges and a large crowd in our keynote room.

(The Launch Pad program, sponsored this year by Elance and supporting sponsor, Zoosk, is a unique public forum designed to spotlight new products or technologies being introduced to the Web 2.0 market. )

“We’re very excited and pleased to win the People’s Choice award at this year’s Web 2.0 Expo Launch Pad program,” said Adam Blum, Rhomobile CEO.  “Rhomobile designed Rhodes to appeal to web developers and that targeting seemed to resonate with the Web 2.0 audience.  We can’t think of a better venue to receive an award.  Winning Launch Pad validates the Rhodes approach to use your web skills to write native apps.”

In addition to Rhomobile, the People’s Choice winner, AskYourTargetMarket.com, Engleasy (winner of last weekend’s Startup Weekend Bay Area), Pearltrees, Strings and Stupeflix also presented.  Each of these finalists had the opportunity to showcase their new ideas on stage in front of the Web 2.0 Expo audience and receive real-time feedback from the following judges: Marshall Kirkpatrick of ReadWriteWeb, Ellen Pack of Elance and Brian Singerman of Founders Fund.

Thanks to all our participants, judges, sponsors, and audience members!

The tech scene in NY crackles these days with a growing sense of community. Our attendees say they’d like the show to reflect and support that, so we’re shifting to a venue where people can better connect. Instead of holding Web 2.0 Expo at the Javits Center, we’ll be at the Sheraton at 51st & 7th, a hotel with great conference facilities.

The new location means that our announced dates for NY have changed. Mark your calendars for our new dates: September 27 – 30, 2010.

We’re currently reviewing proposals for speakers in NY, and we’re excited about the program that’s shaping up. In early June, look for announcement of the schedule.

Meantime, save the dates for September and plan for a Web 2.0 Expo with strong new opportunities to learn from and meet up with other people who are passionate about working on the web.

We’ve kicked off the second (and last) day of the community unconference… the grid is almost full for the day. We’ll take a short break at lunch, but be back at 12:40pm and here some of these great afternoon sessions:

* Multi-Platform Marketing: Lessons from the Trenches by @theMixAgency founder Vanessa Camones

* Social Media Monitoring & Measuring That Works by @theMaria

* Intermission: Startup Advice from Hollywood by @gregarious

* Social Networks & Healthcare by @yuru

SEE A FULL SCHEDULE HERE.
