The dynamic, charismatic and much-loved Gary Vaynerchuk is the self-made star of Wine Library TV, a free daily video blog that “break(s) down the barriers, stereotypes, and misconceptions that otherwise prevent people from exploring and enjoying the exciting and rewarding world of wine.”
Gary has appeared on CNN, Conan O’Brien, Nightline… and this fall he’ll be keynoting at Web 2.0 Expo New York! Come listen on Wednesday, September 17th as Gary Vay-ner-chuk addresses thousands on Building Personal Brand within the Social Media Landscape.
Gary was kind of enough to spend a few moments answering some questions for us, read on -
Q: This is the very first East Coast Web 2.0 Expo. What gets you excited about this inaugural New York event?
That New York is greater than San Francisco and the technology world is figuring it out!
Q: How do you think this event might impact the NYC technology / Web community? What do you hope it will accomplish?
I hope and I think the same thing, which is that it will be a tremendous jolt to the NYC scene and make people realize not only in NY but other cities that tech is worldwide, not just in the Bay Area.
Q: My second week on the job I heard you present on the topic of building your personal brand online. It was inspiring, if not a little intimidating. What are the top 5 tidbits of advice youve got on the topic today?
1) Do what you love.
2) Know your DNA.
3) Serve your community at all costs.
4) Make every decision based on your legacy.
5) Work your face off!
Q: Youve been traveling tons speaking globally and promoting your new book can you share with us a unique experience? (something inspiring, life-changing, an epiphany moment)
Some guy in Maryland asked me to sign his boobs. I’m not sure if that is life changing, inspiring, or an epiphany but it sure was funny!
Gary’s got obviously got a lot of East Coast pride and we’re happy to have him shine at our first New York event!
